Along with colleagues in philosophy and geography, I have started working on a new project called Environmental Histories and Futures of the North East.
This is a grant designed to bring together North-East academic researchers in the social sciences and humanities and community organisations together — to create opportunities for dialogue and collaboration. The project aims to foster future research partnerships that centre local interests and community priorities through regular seminars and community steering group meetings.
This synthesis will allow us to draw interdisciplinary links between researchers, establishing Durham as a hub for North-East environmental humanities and social sciences, culminating with a large grant application or a series of small-medium grants depending on the energy that develops at the conference that marks the project culmination.
